Migration to Canberra On the Rise

More people are moving to Canberra from interstate and overseas according to new figures.
Latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show a complete turnaround in interstate migration to the ACT.
From 2003 to 2004, there was a net loss of 1,600 people from the Territory while in 2006 to 2007 there was a net gain of 1,900 people.
In the same period, international migration to Canberra almost doubled from 450 people to 800.
The resident population of the city in the September quarter of last year was just over 340,000, an increase of 0.1 per cent.–ABC (Australia) News, 23 May, 2008
